COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY UPDATES

A message from the Convention Director of LUMI-CON

Hello everyone,

As many of you may be aware, a growing number of events in our state and across the country have been affected by the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Some conventions are closing their doors for good while others have looked to postpone to a later date in hopes this situation can be controlled, ensuring a safe and secure convention experience for everyone in attendance.
It’s no doubt that any event scheduled a year in advance hopes to never need to cancel or postpone its date, but at this moment it is our responsibility as event runners to make sure we all do our part to stop the spread of this virus, and not expose others in this very crucial window of time.
First and foremost, we hope those events affected can recover from this terrible time, and we only wish our fellow conventions the best of luck in their future endeavours. Conventions are a point in time we always look forward to, and any event not taking place only leaves a void in our hearts. We wish to return to normalcy as quickly as possible.
As our LUMI-CON staff members continue to monitor the coronavirus pandemic- while following CDC recommendations, news, and guidelines- there looks to be light at the end of this tunnel. However, we believe it is our responsibility to keep you updated currently, even though our event is months away. It is far too soon to consider ourselves safe from any of this, though we look to do the best we can; our hopes are high, but our outlook is realistic.
We have decided to post this section within our website to inform you of any news, tips, FAQ, and details about how we look to handle matters in this current situation. If there are any changes on our end, we want you to be the first to know.
As always your safety, health, and well being will always be considered a priority as we look forward to brightening your fall with a wonderful, fun filled, memorable event in October!

LUMI-CON HEALTH & SAFETY FAQ

Q: What is COVID-19?

A: As stated by the CDC on February 11, 2020 the World Health Organization announced an official name for the disease that is causing the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, first identified in Wuhan China. The new name of this disease is coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated as COVID-19. In COVID-19, ‘CO’ stands for ‘corona,’ ‘VI’ for ‘virus,’ and ‘D’ for disease. Formerly, this disease was referred to as “2019 novel coronavirus” or “2019-nCoV”.

Q: What will happen if this pandemic continues?

A: Our staff is monitoring this pandemic on a daily basis. As we look to advice from the CDC and local authorities LUMI-CON will always act within the public’s best interest to ensure you remain healthy, safe and if need be may postpone so you can enjoy another convention held at a later date.


Q: If i preregister early will there be refund or transfer options?

A: As you know most events do not allow for refunds once purchased, but at LUMI-CON we value you in our growth as an up and coming convention. We will be offering two pass options this year to ensure you have an alternative in either attending a future event or better sustaining your current situation.

In the case our 2020 event must be postponed:

Option 1: Pass Carry over or Transfer Option

If our event looks to postpone then you won’t have to do anything, We will carry over any pass purchase into our 2021 event automatically, this ensures your ticket will already be in our system and you wont have to preregister at 2021 pricing.

If you cannot attend yourself but would like to donate or transfer your passes to a friend or family member simply contact our registration department at Lumiconreg@gmail.com and we will assist you with that!

This also supports the event and helps ensure our return for 2021 convention season!

OR

Option 2: $5 Pass Protection

In most instances convention refund policys do not allow refunds and the carry over option may be the only available, during this time we understand you may be going through a financial crisis and may need an alternative so we have decided to offer a pass protection option to those who would like peace of mind over the next few months.

If you feel for any reason you may require a refund at later time for this you may add our pass protection plan to your ticket purchases. This will be a $5 charge(plus tax & fees) that will cover your entire transaction.

(Any passes purchased before 5/1/20 are automatically included in this plan)

This is an optional feature that gives you the help you need when you need and still helps support LUMI-CON at a fraction of the cost! If this option is something our attendees feel may benefit them for future events we will listen to your feedback and make it a permanent feature.


Q: If it does happens, when will info be posted about LUMI-CONS possible postponement?

A: We look to use this page to update you Bi-weekly if not Monthly on current situations and if anything changes at the end of August we should have a final announcement. Until then please use this page for all it’s references and to see any updates regarding news in our community about the pandemic.


Q: Will LUMI-CON 2020 have sanitation measures?

A: YES! Our team regardless of the pandemic ending, will still ensure sanitation stations, Hand sanitizer and proper measures are available as best we can at the event to further help in the spread of unnecessary germs.


Q: If I book a room will my hotel room be transferable?

A: Yes! We will be working with or host hotel to ensure that any rooms booked under our block will be accommodated correctly and held for the next event held.


Q: I have a question that I don’t see here, how do I get that answer?

A: If you have a question please share it with us here >Ask A Question< , your questions are valuable to us and may be something everyone needs to here. As we find out more of your concerns we look to address them and will add them to this FAQ to ensure everyone can see our response.


We hope that everyone out there will join us in supporting our communities in this time of need, LUMI-CON staff has been doing what they can behind the scenes making face masks for health professionals, family and friends, delivering groceries for individuals and doing their part social distancing, please join us in reaching our ultimate goal in saving Halloween by doing your part too!
